Keeping a Store Looking Clean

If you want people to come back to your store time and time again, you need to make sure it is completely clean at all times. You can quickly lose customers just because your store looks cluttered or dirty, even if you know it is clean on the surface. Keeping a store looking clean is a matter of regular maintenance that does not take much effort in the long run. Here are a few tips to help you make the store look the best it possibly can.

Give Your Employees Side Duties

One of the easiest ways to keep a store clean is to give each employee a small cleaning task to do. You may ask your cashiers to clean the displays by the registers and then give each department head a set of aisles to cover. If you have a small store, you may assign general tasks for each of your employees to do at the end of the night. Give out small responsibilities to each person, and you will avoid giving one person too much to clean throughout the day.

Hire a Cleaning Crew

If your employees do not have time to clean, you could hire janitors to work in your store. They may come in once a week or once a day, or they may stay for the entire day. It all depends on your needs. You can discuss your commercial cleaning options with the team here at RJC, and we will be happy to explain the different services we could provide for your store.

Open Early and Stay Late

The best time to clean the store is when there are no customers around. That way you can be as noisy as you want, and you can use whatever chemicals you need to get the job done. Most stores have their employees come in at least an hour early in the morning to clean and set up their stations. This is also a good time to restock the shelves and hold employee meetings if need be.

In addition to coming in early, you need to stay after the store closes to do some preliminary cleaning. This is the time when all of the departments should put up their returns, sweep, mop, etc. If you implement a regular cleaning regimen in your store, you will be able to get the cleaning done quickly and effectively.

Schedule Intensive Cleaning on the Off Days

If your store is closed one or two days a week, you could use those days to do thorough cleaning that you don’t normally do. If your store has carpets, this would be a good time for carpet shampooing. You could also have your cleaning crew wax the floors or do whatever it takes to keep the space looking fresh and lively.

It may take time to establish your cleaning routine, but once you do, it should become a regular habit for all of your employees. Regular maintenance will prevent you from having a dirty, cluttered looking store that turns customers away.  Maximize your earning potential by following these simple tricks for store cleaning.
